Despite LINK trading below $8 amid broader market uncertainty, on-chain data shows over 535,000 wallets holding at least one token — the highest since late 2022 — signaling steady accumulation and growing network adoption
On-chain metrics reveal a clear divergence in Chainlink's ecosystem. The number of wallets holding at least 1 LINK has climbed above 535,000, marking the highest level since December 2022 according to Santiment data. This steady increase in participant numbers has occurred even as the token's price has faced sustained pressure, currently hovering below the $8 mark after testing multi-year lows near $6.99.
Analytics firm Santiment noted that tracking wallets with at least one LINK provides a better view of genuine network participation rather than short-term trading activity. The rise suggests investors are accumulating positions during periods of weakness, pointing to confidence in Chainlink's long-term role in decentralized infrastructure.
Chainlink continues to expand its presence across key sectors including oracle services, tokenized assets, and real-world asset (RWA) applications. Recent developments include migrations by major protocols to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) following security incidents elsewhere in the ecosystem. KelpDAO and Solv Protocol have announced shifts involving significant assets to strengthen their cross-chain operations.
Additionally, Chainlink technology was integrated by Fidelity International for its first tokenized fund, highlighting institutional interest in its infrastructure. Chainlink Labs has also engaged in the regulatory space through the Blockchain Leadership Fund PAC, supporting pro-crypto policy candidates.
These inflows persist despite the token remaining below key moving averages, including the 50-day EMA around $9.04. Technical indicators show the RSI recovering from oversold levels on shorter timeframes, suggesting potential exhaustion of selling pressure.
LINK has been trading in a broader downtrend characterized by lower highs and lower lows. To resume a bullish trajectory, the price needs to clear immediate resistance near $8.13 (February lows) and move toward the 50-day EMA. A sustained break above these levels could open the path toward $9-$10, aligning with analyst targets for a recovery.
Key support sits around $7.48. A breakdown below this could test the recent lows near $6.99. However, the combination of improving derivatives data and on-chain accumulation provides a constructive backdrop if broader market conditions improve.
The contrast between robust holder growth and subdued price action is not uncommon in maturing crypto projects. Growing wallet counts during downturns often precede stronger performance when sentiment shifts. Chainlink's established position in critical blockchain infrastructure positions it well for increased utility as tokenization and cross-chain applications gain traction.
While short-term volatility remains a factor, the underlying network metrics point to resilience and gradual adoption. Market participants appear focused on fundamentals rather than immediate price swings, setting the stage for potential upside if resistance levels are overcome.
