Woori Bank, Kakao Bank and other major institutions will discuss tokenization, payments and institutional DeFi with Ripple executives on October 3 in Seoul
South Korean financial institutions including Woori Bank, Kakao Bank, Kyobo Securities and Kbank are set to participate in the XRP Seoul 2026 conference alongside senior Ripple executives. The event takes place on October 3 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul as part of Korea Blockchain Week.
Confirmed speakers from the Korean side include Seunghoon Han, senior manager at Woori Bank; Leo Lee, manager at Kakao Bank; Heejin Shin, executive director at Kyobo Securities; and Jaehyuk Choi, digital-asset task force lead at Kbank. Ripple will be represented by President Monica Long, RippleX Senior Vice President Markus Infanger and additional company executives.
The program centers on institutional topics rather than general cryptocurrency discussion. Sessions will cover institutional adoption on the XRP Ledger, tokenized assets, institutional decentralized finance built on the ledger, RLUSD cross-border payments and institutional management of XRP.
A panel will examine how traditional finance is adopting asset tokenization. Further discussions address the future of tokenized assets and institutional DeFi applications. Separate sessions focus on RLUSD for cross-border payments and the longer-term direction of XRP and the XRP Ledger.
Additional participants include RippleX Head of Engineering J.A. Akinyele, Senior Director of Ecosystem Growth Christina Chan, Senior Ecosystem Growth Manager Tatsuya Kohrogi, and executives from firms such as Anchored Finance, Soil, Datavault AI, Ondo Finance, Flare Networks, Jeonbuk Bank and others.
The participation of major Korean banks and securities firms builds on existing collaboration. Kbank has previously tested blockchain-based overseas payments infrastructure with Ripple. South Korea has also explored tokenized government bond settlement systems that incorporate Ripple technology, extending the company’s role from payments into capital-market applications.
These developments align with broader efforts by Korean institutions to move beyond early experiments into practical digital-asset infrastructure for payments, tokenization and related services.
Beyond the Seoul conference, the XRP Ledger is preparing for key technical amendments in the same month. The Batch, fixBatchV1_2 and permissions delegation amendments are advancing through the network’s activation process.
If validator support remains above the required 80 percent threshold for the full two-week window, the permissions delegation amendment is projected to activate on October 8. The Batch amendment and its associated fix are expected to activate on October 9.
The Batch feature enables multiple transactions to be executed atomically in a single operation, supporting more efficient handling of complex institutional and retail use cases. The permissions delegation change expands options for account management without requiring full key sharing.
Ripple’s Swell event is scheduled for October 27 to 29. The gathering is expected to bring together participants from global finance and blockchain sectors to address digital-asset developments and real-world applications.
The combination of the XRP Seoul conference, ledger upgrades and the Swell event places a series of institutional discussions and technical milestones within a single month for the XRP ecosystem.
