New @XRP handle on X posts its first message as Ripple and the XRPL Foundation signal clearer communication for the native token of the XRP Ledger
The XRP cryptocurrency has opened an official account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after more than a decade since the XRP Ledger first went live in 2012. The @XRP handle, jointly managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation, posted its inaugural message on October 19, 2026, stating “hello, world. It’s about time.”
The account’s profile identifies XRP as the native token of the XRP Ledger, a decentralized blockchain built for payments, and clarifies that the posts are not investment advice. Within hours of launch, the account had attracted more than 17,200 followers, with reports from different sources noting figures between 17,200 and 21,700. It followed only 42 accounts, including notable names such as Vijay Khanna and the Ripple Stablecoin Tracker.
Ripple responded quickly to the launch, quoting the account’s opening message and highlighting more than a decade of collaboration with developers and institutions on the XRP Ledger. In a post, the company stated: “For over a decade, we’ve built on the XRP Ledger alongside thousands of others.”
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also welcomed the account, calling the development long anticipated and sharing a short video. He wrote: “This one has been a long time coming… Welcome @XRP!” The XRP Ledger Foundation echoed the sentiment with a message reading “New era” accompanied by an animated terminal graphic.
The profile on the new account explains that XRP serves as the native token of the XRP Ledger, emphasizing its role in enabling fast, low-cost payments. The description notes the ledger’s decentralized nature and lists the account’s focus on official updates for XRP, without providing any investment-related recommendations.
Unlike Ripple the company, the XRP Ledger operates independently, with transactions settling in three to five seconds at minimal fees. The ledger has processed more than one trillion dollars in value since its launch and supports use cases including cross-border payments and tokenized assets. The new account aims to reduce confusion between the token and the company, providing a dedicated channel for the community.
XRP was trading near 1.30 USD at the time of the launch, up about 2 percent in the previous 24 hours according to multiple reports. The debut follows a pattern where other major cryptocurrencies already maintain official accounts, including Bitcoin since 2011, Ethereum managed by the Ethereum Foundation, and Dogecoin since 2013.
Community members reacted positively, with quick engagement and speculation about future updates. The account has been positioned as a strategic shift toward clearer representation on social platforms, ahead of events such as Ripple Swell 2026. A companion website, xrp.org, was also highlighted in coverage, underscoring the ledger’s fixed supply of 100 billion tokens created in 2012 and its open-source model maintained by independent validators.
| Platform | Official Account | Launch Year |
|---|---|---|

| X | @Ethereum | Post-2015 Ethereum Foundation era |
| X | @Dogecoin | 2013 |
| X | @XRP (new) | 2026 |
The launch provides the XRP community with a unified voice for updates, education, and announcements while reinforcing the decentralized character of the XRP Ledger ecosystem.
