Decentralized credit protocol moves core operations from Ethereum to XRPL, pairs with Ripple on RLUSD settlements and launches institutional fund
Clearpool, a decentralized credit protocol that previously operated primarily on Ethereum, has announced plans for a complete migration of its core infrastructure to the XRP Ledger. The transition includes replacing its existing CPOOL token with a new CLEAR token and establishing closer ties with Ripple for institutional lending activity.
The relocation positions Clearpool as an on-chain lending partner within the XRP Ledger ecosystem. XRPL historically concentrated on cross-border payments and lacked extensive decentralized finance lending tools, leaving substantial liquidity underutilized compared with Ethereum-based markets. Recent protocol upgrades have added native lending capabilities, creating an opening for specialized credit products focused on real-world business and private credit applications.
Clearpool intends to adapt successful lending approaches from Ethereum to these new institutional-oriented markets on XRPL at an early stage of their development.
Alongside the migration, Clearpool is launching an institutional credit fund in partnership with Cicada Partners. The fund will finance fintech and payment companies. All settlements and payouts will occur exclusively in RLUSD, Ripple’s regulated U.S. dollar stablecoin. Ripple has joined as a limited partner and will supply liquidity for the initial lending pools.
The system is currently under testing on the Devnet. XRPL mainnet validators will vote on enabling the new lending functionality. Hex Trust, a regulated digital asset custodian, will handle security, borrower verification, compliance, and interoperability with Ethereum’s ERC-20 infrastructure.
CPOOL, launched in 2021, has seen 99 percent of its supply already distributed, leaving limited resources for further liquidity incentives. The CLEAR token is designed to support expanded growth on XRPL through a treasury reset.
CLEAR will operate under a deflationary model. Half of all protocol fees generated by lending products will be used to purchase CLEAR on the open market and permanently burn it. The remaining half will be distributed to active stakers.
| Token | Main Chain | Supply Status | Incentive Structure |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPOOL | Ethereum | 99% Distributed | Limited for new markets |
| CLEAR | XRPL | Full reset | Deflationary, revenue buybacks and staking rewards |
Community members may review the migration proposal during a 14-day discussion period on the Clearpool forum. After the discussion window closes, token holders will vote via Snapshot on the final approval of the migration and activation of the new XRPL pools.
