Decentralized platform cites integration potential and oracle upgrades as it prepares L1 move, drawing support from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin
Trueo, an onchain prediction market protocol that launched on the Base network in March 2025, has announced plans to migrate its primary deployment to Ethereum mainnet. The project framed the shift as a step toward broader ecosystem integrations, deeper liquidity, and the development of a next-generation oracle system for resolving real-world outcomes.
The platform operates binary yes-or-no markets settled through onchain mechanisms. According to its announcement, Base provided a suitable environment during the early experimental phase when mainnet gas costs remained elevated and certain features were still under development. The team now views Ethereum as better aligned with its longer-term goals.
Trueo stated that Ethereum offers higher integration potential and product upside compared with remaining on Base, where connections are largely confined to the immediate Layer 2 ecosystem. The protocol aims to become a widely adopted, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible platform. Ethereum, it said, best supports that combination of properties through its network effects, available liquidity, and infrastructure roadmap.
Co-founder Lumberg emphasized that a prediction market’s value depends heavily on the quality of its oracle. After the migration, Trueo’s immediate priorities will be attracting liquidity across key market categories and deploying an upgraded oracle designed for greater neutrality and reliability.
The project noted that lower execution costs on Ethereum have made mainnet more practical, while the Layer 1 environment provides a more predictable base for long-term development. Trueo stressed that the decision is not a criticism of Base but a recognition of Ethereum’s unmatched global integrations and philosophical alignment with its model.
Existing markets on Base will continue to operate through their scheduled expiries. Trading, resolution, and redemptions remain available on the current deployment. Collateral assets will continue generating yield during the transition period.
Users have been advised not to open new markets on Base that expire after January 31, 2027. Markets with earlier expirations can still be created on the Layer 2. Longer-dated ideas should wait for the Ethereum instance to go live.
The TRUE governance and oracle token will migrate to Ethereum through an open-ended process with no fixed deadline. Future staking and liquidity incentive programs are scheduled to operate exclusively on the mainnet deployment once it launches. Official documentation currently still lists only Base contract addresses, indicating the Ethereum contracts have not yet been published.
DefiLlama data places Trueo as the 14th-largest onchain prediction market by total value locked, with approximately $796,000 in TVL. All tracked value remains on Base, along with limited recent decentralized exchange volume.
The existing resolution process is optimistic. Any participant can propose an outcome once resolution criteria are met, triggering a 12-hour challenge window. Undisputed proposals finalize automatically. Challenges escalate first to an Oracle Council, then potentially to TRUE holders, and finally to a randomly selected panel of 11 attesters who determine the result and any applicable penalties. Market questions and approved resolution sources are recorded as immutable onchain data at creation.
The protocol’s rules prohibit markets that create incentives for violence, self-harm, or other harmful conduct, and require clear, publicly verifiable criteria. Markets lacking such standards must be canceled.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin publicly welcomed the planned migration. He described Trueo as a strong new contender on Layer 1 that prioritizes decentralization and ethical design while seeking meaningful applications for prediction markets as an economic tool.
Buterin’s comments followed earlier public remarks in which he expressed concern that many prediction markets had focused heavily on short-term cryptocurrency price bets and sports wagering. He has previously suggested prediction-market mechanisms could play a role in onchain governance when paired with systems designed to resist capture. No formal partnership, grant, or investment involving the Ethereum Foundation was announced in connection with Trueo’s plans.
Trueo has not published a firm timeline for the Ethereum deployment or the full rollout of its upgraded oracle. During the transition, the Base application remains fully operational for existing activity while the team prepares the mainnet version and associated liquidity efforts.
