Strategy raised $263.5 million through share sales last week but made no Bitcoin transactions, lifting its USD reserves amid ongoing capital management adjustments
Strategy, recognized as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, continues to navigate its treasury strategy by prioritizing liquidity while keeping its substantial cryptocurrency position intact. In the latest reporting period covering July 13 to July 19, the company sold shares of its common stock but refrained from any Bitcoin activity.
According to regulatory filings, Strategy sold approximately 2.73 million shares of its Class A common stock under its at-the-market program, generating net proceeds of $263.5 million. This capital infusion increased the company's U.S. dollar reserve to $3.225 billion, up from around $3 billion the prior week.
The cash buildup serves multiple purposes, including funding dividends on preferred stock issuances and covering interest payments on outstanding debt. Strategy maintains significant remaining capacity under its equity programs, providing flexibility for future moves.
The company's Bitcoin holdings remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC during the period. These assets were acquired at a total cost of approximately $63.69 billion, equating to an average purchase price of $75,476 per Bitcoin. At current market levels around $65,000, the position represents a major corporate treasury allocation.
This marks the second consecutive week without Bitcoin acquisitions, following a period of aggressive accumulation. The pause coincides with efforts to strengthen balance sheet liquidity after recent market conditions and the introduction of preferred stock structures.
Strategy President and CEO Phong Le addressed recent developments, emphasizing the company's dedication to its Bitcoin strategy despite short-term adjustments.
Le noted that the firm built its cash reserves in response to preferences from preferred shareholders and views the balance sheet as secure under current conditions. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor also highlighted the updated treasury figures publicly, posting a chart of Bitcoin acquisitions with the caption “What’s next?”
The latest filing follows an earlier Bitcoin sale of around $216 million worth of BTC, part of a newly approved monetization program allowing up to $1.25 billion in potential sales to support liquidity and dividends. These steps represent a more active approach to treasury management compared to prior years of consistent buying.
Despite the adjustments, Strategy's Bitcoin position dwarfs those of other public companies, underscoring its prominent role in corporate cryptocurrency adoption. Market observers continue to monitor how the company deploys its expanded cash reserves in coming periods.
