The identity project formerly known as Worldcoin has launched a financial app combining stablecoin payments, yield, trading and virtual accounts, with Stripe-powered Apple Pay funding for U.S. users
World began rolling out World Money, a self-custodial financial super app, on Thursday across more than 150 countries. The product brings together stablecoin payments, digital asset rewards, trading access and virtual accounts in a single interface, with features and asset availability differing by jurisdiction.
Users retain control of their private keys under the self-custody model. The app supports balances denominated in eight currencies, including U.S. dollar-linked and local-currency stablecoins. Holders can send supported digital assets, including stablecoins, to other users via World usernames rather than traditional blockchain addresses. Transfers are designed to settle quickly and, in many cases, at no cost.
Beyond peer-to-peer transfers, World Money allows users to deposit eligible assets to earn rewards. Yield is powered by Morpho, a decentralized lending protocol, and covers assets such as Worldcoin (WLD),USDC and certain wrapped tokens in selected markets. Returns are variable and not guaranteed; the company notes that these balances are not bank deposits and carry the risk of partial or full loss.
Trading functionality is available through exchange integrations, enabling users to buy and sell supported digital assets without leaving the app. Third-party Mini Apps expand the offering further. At launch these include Kalshi for regulated prediction markets, Credit and Morpho.
Funding friction is addressed through a partnership with Stripe. In the United States, users can convert funds from Apple Pay into stablecoins that typically arrive within minutes. Stripe’s Bridge unit also powers virtual accounts in available markets, allowing payroll deposits and bank transfers to be received and automatically converted into stablecoins such as USDC.
World ID verification is integrated into the financial experience. Users who complete verification receive a limited-time boost on eligible Earn programs. The company positions its iris-scan-based proof-of-personhood system as a distinguishing element that adds a layer of human verification to financial activity as automated accounts proliferate.
With the launch of World Money, the project has split its services into two dedicated applications. The World ID App manages identity verification and credentials, while World Money handles the wallet, payments, rewards and trading functions. Existing users of the prior World App and World ID App can access World Money with their current accounts.
World Money is operated by Tools for Humanity, the company co-founded by Alex Blania and OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman that develops technology for the World network. The project began as Worldcoin in 2023, combining biometric identity verification via Orb devices with token distribution.
The World App first launched in May 2023 with a crypto wallet, stablecoin transfers and token trading alongside World ID. In October 2024 the company released World App 3.0, described as a super app for humans, which added third-party Mini Apps and a Vault feature for earning on assets. Virtual bank accounts were piloted in the United States in November 2025 and later expanded, enabling paychecks and deposits to convert into USDC.
The new dual-app structure continues that trajectory by separating identity tools from financial operations while preserving continuity for existing users. Feature sets, supported assets and funding options will continue to differ by country as the rollout proceeds.
