S.BLOX becomes the first Japan-registered exchange to offer NIGHT trading alongside ADA, with rewards campaigns running through September 30
Sony Group-affiliated cryptocurrency exchange S.BLOX began supporting trading of Cardano’s ADA and Midnight’s NIGHT token on August 24, 2026. The platform, acquired by Sony On-Chain Technologies Inc. in August 2023, opened NIGHT/JPY and ADA/JPY pairs for Japanese users.
S.BLOX holds a license from the Kanto Finance Bureau. The exchange stated that NIGHT had not previously been listed by any domestic crypto-asset exchange operator registered under the Kanto or Kinki Local Finance Bureaus, making this the first such offering in Japan.
Trading operates 24 hours a day aside from scheduled maintenance. Fees are not charged, though a spread applies. Minimum order size for NIGHT is one token, with a tick size of 0.01 yen and a maximum order of 250,000 NIGHT. The exchange currently supports the Cardano-network version of the token, known as cNIGHT.
To mark the launch, S.BLOX introduced limited-time promotions running through September 30. Eligible users with active accounts who meet trading and deposit conditions can receive up to 14,000 yen worth of NIGHT and up to 10,000 yen worth of ADA.
| Token | First Trading Day | Campaign Reward | First Japanese Listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cardano (ADA) | August 24, 2026 | Up to 10,000 yen | No |
| Midnight (NIGHT) | August 24, 2026 | Up to 14,000 yen | Yes |
Midnight is a privacy-focused partner chain to Cardano developed by Input Output Global. It uses zero-knowledge proofs to enable selective privacy, allowing data protection while remaining verifiable for compliance purposes. The network’s mainnet went live in March 2026.
NIGHT serves as the governance and utility token. It was first issued on the Cardano network through a multi-phase community airdrop before being mirrored onto Midnight’s chain. The total supply is fixed at 24 billion tokens, with approximately 16.6 billion in circulation. Holding NIGHT generates DUST, a non-transferable resource used for transaction fees.
NIGHT already trades on multiple international platforms against USDT and other pairs. The S.BLOX listing provides Japanese retail users with a regulated domestic route to the token for the first time.
Japan maintains one of the world’s strictest frameworks for cryptocurrency exchanges, requiring registration with regional finance bureaus. Token approvals often involve lengthy review processes, resulting in a comparatively limited selection of assets available on domestic platforms.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson described the NIGHT listing as a major milestone during a recent livestream. He noted the rigorous standards that projects typically face before securing approval in Japan and pointed to Cardano’s own experience with ADA as an example of those requirements.
The dual listing of ADA and NIGHT on the same Sony-linked platform reinforces the technical connection between Midnight and its parent chain while expanding access for both projects in the Japanese market.
On August 24, NIGHT traded near $0.01949, down 4.35 percent over 24 hours, with a market capitalization of approximately $323.76 million and 24-hour volume of $19.21 million. Circulating supply stood at 16.6 billion tokens.
The price movement occurred amid the listing announcement. Broader market conditions and liquidity levels continued to influence short-term trading activity for both NIGHT and ADA.
Further phases of the Midnight roadmap include plans for Cardano stake pool operators to participate as block producers and the introduction of a marketplace for DUST capacity. Additional exchange listings and expanded dApp activity remain potential near-term factors for the ecosystem in Japan and the wider Asian region.
