Rakuten Wallet is offering physical SHIB coins to holders who attend its November 3 investment seminar in Japan, aiming to boost engagement among the token's retail audience
Rakuten Wallet will hand out limited physical commemorative coins to SHIB holders during the Investment Academy × Forex Economy Academy event organized by Rakuten Securities. The seminar takes place on November 3, a public holiday in Japan, and features senior analyst Matsuda delivering a presentation.
Attendees visit the Rakuten Wallet booth and show their SHIB holdings on the app screen. Anyone meeting the requirement receives a coin without exception or additional steps. The event serves as an offline touchpoint to connect digital asset ownership with real-world participation.
Senior analyst Matsuda has appeared at previous Rakuten Securities seminars, including one in October, and will continue in that role for this session. The giveaway extends Rakuten Wallet’s existing support for Shiba Inu, which the platform added to its trading lineup in April.
The distributed items are metal souvenir tokens with no blockchain connection or actual SHIB value. They form part of Rakuten Wallet’s Real Coin series, which began with Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP before introducing the SHIB variant in July 2026.
This marks the first use of a sandblasted finish on the SHIB coin, creating a distinctive matte texture on the collectible pieces. Rakuten Wallet previously distributed similar physical Shiba Inu coins at an event in Fukuoka and has confirmed plans for comparable distributions in Sapporo and Osaka during October.
Rakuten Wallet operates within Japan’s established retail ecosystem, which includes Rakuten Pay available at millions of locations. The platform has reached around 44 million customers through its broader group and offers spot trading alongside custodial services.
The giveaway aligns with efforts to heighten SHIB visibility among users familiar with Rakuten’s trusted brand. Japan reported $228.3 billion in crypto activity from July 2025 to June 2026, according to Chainalysis data, though growth has faced constraints from tax policies and conservative investing habits.
Industry figures, including Binance Japan’s general manager Arisa Toyosaki, have noted the country’s large retail base while highlighting ongoing challenges in expanding participation.
Rakuten Wallet has used giveaways to convert interest in meme coins into tangible customer involvement. The November promotion follows the same model as earlier sessions and ties directly to the platform’s educational programming.
Feedback on the new sandblasted design was described as entirely positive internally. The coins represent a shift toward blending online holdings with offline experiences, providing SHIB holders with a shareable memento of their activity.
This approach continues Rakuten’s pattern of integrating meme tokens into its ecosystem through both trading access and community events, helping maintain presence in Japan’s competitive crypto space.
