Japanese crypto platform to distribute limited-edition metal SHIB souvenirs to holders showing app balances during Securities Investment Academy session
Rakuten Wallet, a major Japanese cryptocurrency exchange and wallet service, has announced a giveaway of physical Shiba Inu (SHIB) coins at an upcoming educational event in Fukuoka. The distribution is scheduled for September 12 as part of the Securities Investment Academy, where Senior Analyst Matsuda will deliver a presentation.
Attendees who hold SHIB in the Rakuten Wallet application can claim a coin by presenting a screenshot of their balance to staff at the company’s booth. The physical items are commemorative metal tokens produced with a sandblasting technique, also known as a blast finish. They carry no technical connection to the blockchain and are not investment products.
The September 12 gathering forms part of Rakuten’s broader outreach efforts. Registration for the Securities Investment Academy is open to individuals who maintain a Rakuten Securities account. Organizers confirmed that the same physical SHIB coins will be offered at additional seminars planned for Sapporo and Osaka in October.
These tokens first entered production announcements in July. They join an existing series of physical collectibles that already includes versions representing Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. The company has described the items as tangible keepsakes intended to make digital assets more approachable for a wider retail audience in Japan.
Rakuten Wallet added SHIB trading support in April. The listing enables users to convert Rakuten Points into the token and to spend SHIB through the Rakuten Pay network at approximately five million merchant locations nationwide. In June the platform released educational material titled “Understanding SHIB,” prepared with input from Senior Analyst Matsuda.
The physical coin initiative continues the firm’s focus on offline engagement. Earlier campaigns included digital token rewards tied to trading volume and interactive social media contests. By placing metal souvenirs at event booths, Rakuten Wallet aims to create direct, hands-on interaction with the asset for both existing and potential users.
Support for SHIB on major Japanese platforms expanded after regulatory approval placed the token on the official list of permitted assets. Retail-focused services have since incorporated the coin into payment systems and loyalty programs, increasing everyday visibility. Rakuten’s multi-city seminar schedule and consistent content production signal continued efforts to expand awareness among domestic users.
The physical coins remain limited-edition collectibles rather than functional blockchain instruments. Distribution is restricted to verified holders who attend the designated events and present proof of ownership within the Rakuten Wallet application.
