The multichain wallet will remove Sui balances, transfers, swaps and app connections after a mutual decision with the network, giving users one month to migrate assets
Phantom will discontinue support for the Sui blockchain on September 24, 2026. After that date, users will no longer be able to view balances, send tokens, execute swaps or connect to Sui applications through the wallet interface.
The company stated that the decision was reached jointly with Sui and leaves open the possibility of future collaboration. Assets held on the Sui network remain fully under user control and are not affected by the change in wallet software.
Phantom added native Sui support on January 29, 2025. At the time, Sui became the first Move-based chain and the third fully supported layer-1 network on the platform alongside Solana and Ethereum. The wallet then reported roughly 15 million monthly active users.
Phantom CEO Brandon Millman described the addition as a strong strategic fit.
Support will end less than 20 months after the launch. Phantom has not published a detailed commercial or technical explanation for the withdrawal beyond the joint statement.
Once the transition takes effect, Phantom will remove Sui from its supported network list. Balances will no longer appear, transaction tools will stop functioning, and previously established connections to Sui decentralized applications will cease to work. Users who later switch to another wallet will need to reconnect those applications separately.
The underlying tokens stay recorded on the Sui blockchain. Ownership continues to be governed solely by the recovery phrase or private key associated with the address.
Phantom has outlined two primary paths ahead of the deadline.
Users who prefer to remain inside Phantom can swap native SUI for tokens on networks the wallet continues to support. Phantom has waived its own fee on cross-chain swaps from native SUI into wrapped SUI on Solana through September 24. Network and exchange fees still apply. Swaps into SOL, ETH or USDC are also available under standard fee conditions.
Users who wish to keep native Sui assets can export their recovery phrase from Phantom settings and import it into a compatible Sui wallet. Phantom recommends Slush, the wallet associated with the Sui ecosystem. The same address and balances should appear once the credentials are restored. Any additional recovery phrases or separately imported private keys must be transferred individually.
Migration can occur before or after the deadline because asset ownership is independent of Phantom’s interface. Completing the process early allows confirmation of balances while the in-app tools remain available.
Phantom has cautioned users that it will never initiate contact, request a recovery phrase or private key, or offer to move assets on anyone’s behalf. Unsolicited messages offering migration assistance should be treated as potential scams.
Wallet transitions frequently attract phishing attempts that imitate official support accounts or distribute fake applications designed to capture credentials. Users are advised to download any replacement wallet only from its verified official website and to keep recovery phrases offline after the import process is complete.
The decision arrives amid reduced activity on the Sui network. DeFi total value locked has declined from levels near $2 billion earlier in the period to figures reported below $1 billion, with some data showing approximately $470 million. The SUI token has traded near $0.83, well below its January 2025 peak of $5.36, while market capitalization stands around $3.4 billion.
Phantom is also ending support for the Monad network on a similar short notice schedule, indicating a wider adjustment of its multichain offerings rather than an isolated action focused solely on Sui.
After September 24, Phantom has not announced any plan to restore Sui functionality. Holders who take no immediate action retain the ability to access their assets at any later date by importing the correct credentials into a compatible wallet.
