The exchange will shift non-stock crypto assets to Spot Accounts through January 2027, then rename Funding Accounts as Stocks Accounts for equity settlement only
Binance will begin a phased migration of cryptocurrency assets from user Funding Accounts into Spot Accounts on September 29, 2026. The process is scheduled to continue through January 2027, after which the Funding Accounts will be renamed Stocks Accounts and limited exclusively to settlement for stocks and stock options.
The change is designed to simplify the platform’s account structure by consolidating crypto activity under Spot Accounts while creating a dedicated channel for equity-related trading. Binance has stated that total asset values and account security will remain unaffected, with transfers occurring on a one-to-one basis.
From September 29, 2026, Funding Accounts will no longer accept on-chain cryptocurrency deposits. All crypto deposits and withdrawals will instead route through Spot Accounts. Users can transfer eligible balances early using a One-Click Migration tool available in the latest versions of the Binance iOS and Android apps.
Any remaining non-stock crypto assets left in Funding Accounts will be moved automatically in batches beginning in January 2027. Binance has indicated that more detailed phase dates will be announced later. The formal renaming of Funding Accounts to Stocks Accounts is also expected in January 2027, though an exact date has not been set.
After the transition, the renamed Stocks Account will serve solely for settlement of U.S. equities and stock options. Six assets will remain supported for this purpose: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. These can be transferred internally between Spot and Stocks Accounts, but direct on-chain deposits or withdrawals will not be available from the Stocks Account.
Tokenized securities known as bStocks will not stay in the Stocks Account. Existing bStock balances in Funding Accounts can be moved via One-Click Migration or will transfer automatically to Spot Accounts starting in January 2027. Newly converted bStocks will go directly to Spot Accounts.
The separation follows Binance’s expansion into traditional finance products. In June 2026 the exchange launched access to more than 7,000 U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs for eligible users, with fractional shares available from $5. Within 30 days users held more than $1 billion in these equities and generated nearly $3 billion in trading volume. Physically settled options on selected U.S. stocks and ETFs followed on September 1, 2026.
Several Binance products will update their funding sources on September 29, 2026. Assets received through Binance Pay, Binance Card, and Gift Card will be credited to Spot Accounts. Stablecoins used for Binance Alpha 2.0 limit orders and related liquidity-provider rebates will route through Alpha Accounts.
Open Convert limit orders with assets frozen in Funding Accounts will remain open but settle to Spot Accounts after the cutover. New limit orders created on or after September 29 will freeze and settle exclusively in Spot Accounts. Recurring Convert orders will settle to Spot or Earn Accounts according to user settings, and failed-order refunds will return to Spot Accounts.
API users are advised to update any references from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts to prevent disruptions. Recurring payment plans that rely solely on Funding Accounts will cease once that account is removed as a payment source.
Regular peer-to-peer users without recent advertisement history will default to Spot Accounts for buy and sell orders after updating their app. Advertisers will continue using Funding Accounts for listings, deposits, and related activity until December 2026, when Binance plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account.
Existing advertisements can remain active during the transition, with original update times preserved. Advertisements not migrated to the new P2P Account by January 2027 will be deactivated automatically. Users on outdated app versions may experience interruptions until they update.
Binance has confirmed that historical transaction records will stay intact throughout the process. Users are encouraged to update to the latest app version to access the One-Click Migration feature and to review any automated plans or integrations currently linked to Funding Accounts before the automatic migration phase begins.
