Sony-backed blockchain and Korean entertainment firm plan to bring K-pop intellectual property and related cash flows onchain via the WAVIST platform, building on a completed tokenized bond
Soneium, the Sony-backed Ethereum layer-2 network focused on entertainment applications, has joined forces with South Korean entertainment company DayOneDream to develop tokenized K-pop intellectual property and associated revenue streams. The companies revealed the collaboration during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 in Seoul, with details shared at an event titled Tokenizing K-Pop: WAVIST Night.
At the core of the arrangement is WAVIST, DayOneDream’s platform that links entertainment assets to structured financial products. The partners intend to use Soneium’s blockchain infrastructure to move K-content assets and their economic value onchain at scale. Access for any future products will depend on regulatory rules and user eligibility checks. No initial artist, catalog, offering size or launch date has been named.
The announcement builds on operational experience rather than a new pilot. In May 2026, WAVIST completed the entire lifecycle of a tokenized intellectual-property bond issued to finance K-pop assets. The process covered issuance, final redemption and the burning of the related tokens, showing that entertainment rights can move through an end-to-end onchain framework.
Details of that bond’s size, interest terms, underlying rights or investor base were not disclosed. WAVIST’s broader platform has listed products tied to concerts, artists and content, including funds that record ticketing and intellectual-property revenue settlements onchain. Existing offerings have been made available outside the United States under Regulation S and remain unavailable to U.S. persons. Fan editions operate separately and carry no financial return.
DayOneDream manages K-pop acts that include BTOB, Lee Chae Yeon, MEMI and 2F. Its activities extend to music production and publishing, video, global concert operations and intellectual-property commerce. The partnership pairs that industry expertise with Soneium’s network, which was developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs using the OP Stack and is designed to support creators, digital content and applications.
Soneium and DayOneDream stated that tokenized products could give eligible supporters a route to participate in the financial value of entertainment IP while offering rights holders alternative channels for financing and revenue distribution. Traditional structures have limited individual participation in the underlying economics of K-pop content. The companies frame the work as subject to applicable compliance requirements and do not describe any trading venue, yield mechanism or public sale available today.
Youngjae Jeon, vice president at DayOneDream, added that the collaboration shows how live-entertainment businesses can be integrated into transparent, institutionally managed financial products. The next concrete steps involve developing specific future offerings; no timeline for the first Soneium-linked product has been set.
Soneium has previously supported digital collectibles and game-related assets. Tokenized bonds or revenue-linked instruments introduce different considerations, including payment obligations, supporting income streams and the precise rights attached to each token. WAVIST positions its platform as a means to structure K-culture cash flows from concerts and content into asset-backed instruments, with issuing companies remaining responsible for their own offerings.
The partners plan to continue moving additional K-content assets and revenue streams onto Soneium. Any U.S. availability would hinge on the specific terms, issuing entity and distribution method of each product. The companies have not indicated whether future instruments will be offered to American investors.
