Solana’s Mainnet Beta marked 1,000 consecutive days without a network-wide block-finalization stoppage on November 2, 2026, following years of engineering upgrades that addressed earlier stability challenges
Solana’s Mainnet Beta cluster reached the 1,000-day mark without a full halt in block finalization at 4:53 a.m. ET on November 2, 2026. The period began after the network’s most recent complete cluster interruption on February 6, 2024. On that date, validators entered a repeated program-compilation cycle while replaying transactions because of an issue with the LoadedPrograms cache, preventing consensus from advancing. Block production resumed roughly five hours later.
The metric tracks the absence of a full stoppage in block finalization across the cluster. It does not confirm continuous availability of every validator, RPC endpoint or application during the interval.
Solana faced multiple network-wide interruptions in its early years. In September 2021, bot-driven traffic during the Grape Protocol initial DEX offering overwhelmed validators and stalled the network for about 17 hours. An NFT mint in April 2022 produced a similar surge that halted activity for seven hours. A software bug involving durable nonce transactions caused a 4.5-hour outage in June 2022. Consensus-layer conflicts led to a stoppage lasting more than six hours in September 2022. In February 2023, abnormal block propagation through the Turbine system left validators locked in a voting state and required a coordinated restart.
| Date | Cause | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| September 2021 | Bot traffic from Grape Protocol IDO | Approximately 17 hours |
| April 2022 | NFT mint transaction surge | 7 hours |
| June 2022 | Durable nonce transaction bug | 4.5 hours |
| September 2022 | Consensus layer conflicts | More than 6 hours |
| February 2023 | Turbine block propagation strain | Coordinated restart required |
Developers responded to the earlier incidents with targeted protocol changes. Stake-weighted quality-of-service mechanisms were introduced to manage traffic more effectively. QUIC transport protocol upgrades improved handling of spam and congestion. Deduplication and iteration-cleansing logic received revisions after the February 2023 event. Local fee markets and adjustments to native fee and timing mechanisms were added to reduce the impact of repeated or abusive transactions. These steps collectively raised throughput and raised the network’s resistance to overload conditions.
In September 2026 the project reported that the network had maintained continuous operation since February 2024 while processing substantial transaction volumes.
On August 12, 2026, a routing failure at infrastructure provider Teraswitch affected customers at 13 of its 31 sites. Nearly 29 percent of network stake temporarily went offline. Block production continued without interruption, and full recovery occurred 33 minutes after the first alarm.
Completed non-vote transactions reached 8.78 billion in the third quarter of 2026, a 23.3 percent increase from 7.13 billion in the second quarter. September alone recorded 3.18 billion completed non-vote transactions, an 8.3 percent rise from August’s 2.93 billion. These figures exclude validator votes and reverted transactions and cover a period preceding the November uptime milestone.
