Platform alerts holders of its native token on the opBNB network to move assets to BNB Chain before LayerZero support ends
Decentralized exchange PancakeSwap has notified users holding its CAKE token on the opBNB network that a key bridging route will close later this month. The change stems from LayerZero ending its support services on opBNB, requiring holders to complete transfers ahead of the cutoff.
LayerZero will discontinue its Decentralized Verifier Network and Executor services on opBNB, along with support for 13 other lower-activity networks. As a result, the ability to bridge CAKE out of opBNB through the LayerZero-based route ends at 00:00 UTC on November 23.
PancakeSwap has directed affected users to transfer their CAKE tokens to the BNB Chain before that time. The announcement specifies that holders should use the official bridge and select opBNB as the source network. After the deadline, withdrawals of CAKE from opBNB via the current LayerZero path will no longer be possible.
The update applies solely to CAKE balances on opBNB that rely on this bridging method. It does not affect CAKE on other networks, trading activity involving the token, or broader operations of PancakeSwap.
Users with CAKE on opBNB are advised to complete the migration to BNB Chain in advance of the November 23 cutoff. The process relocates the tokens without requiring a sale. PancakeSwap has shared an official bridge link for the transfer and stressed the importance of verifying network selection during the process.
Holders should confirm their token balances and the networks on which those balances reside. Completing the move with time remaining allows for potential delays in processing.
The announcement states that LayerZero is ending support for opBNB but provides no further explanation for the decision. It also does not list alternative bridging routes that may remain available after the cutoff or indicate whether other assets on the network face similar restrictions.
Stargate Hydra support is ending on some of the affected networks as part of the wider LayerZero changes. For CAKE holders specifically, the focus remains on completing the transfer to BNB Chain while the current route stays open.
With roughly four weeks remaining until the deadline, affected users have a defined window to act. The change is presented as a targeted adjustment to one bridging pathway rather than a wider protocol or market event.
