The M token from the meme-focused Layer 1 project MemeCore dropped sharply from around $2.90 to below $0.50 in hours on June 25, erasing nearly $3 billion in market value amid renewed questions over supply concentration and liquidity
The M token experienced one of the sharpest single-day declines among major cryptocurrencies, falling approximately 76% within 24 hours. Prices moved from highs near $2.66-$2.92 to intraday lows around $0.40-$0.51 before partial recovery toward $0.68-$0.80.
Market capitalization fell below the $1 billion mark to roughly $900 million from previous levels above $3 billion. Fully diluted valuation contracted significantly but remained elevated relative to on-chain activity. Trading volume across platforms reached tens of millions, with centralized exchanges absorbing most of the activity.
On-chain investigator ZachXBT addressed the crash directly, referencing earlier warnings about inorganic supply concentration and team practices. He noted limited genuine on-chain transfers on BNB Smart Chain, with no transactions exceeding $50,000 in recent weeks and total DEX liquidity under $100,000.
ZachXBT questioned listings on major exchanges including Kraken, Binance, and Bybit, asking for explanations on due diligence processes for the token. Earlier in April, he pointed to suspicious withdrawal patterns from Kraken to new addresses and alleged heavy insider holdings.
MemeCore operates as a Layer 1 blockchain aimed at meme coin launches and community-driven activity. The project had gained significant attention through listings on prominent platforms and promotional efforts, reaching high valuations earlier in the year. However, on-chain metrics showed thin liquidity on its native BSC deployment despite substantial centralized exchange trading.
Circulating supply stands around 1.31 billion tokens out of a larger total and max supply, contributing to elevated fully diluted figures even after the drop. No security incidents, exploits, or official project announcements were reported as direct causes of the price action.
The event has drawn attention to risks associated with tokens featuring concentrated supply, reliance on centralized venues, and promotional strategies that may not reflect organic demand. Analysts and community members noted similarities to past cases where valuations proved fragile once selling pressure emerged.
MemeCore has not issued a public statement on the price movement or related allegations as of the latest reports. The incident adds to ongoing industry discussions regarding market integrity, liquidity depth, and verification processes for new projects.
