Crypto exchange Gemini has activated direct XRP transfers via the XRP Ledger for eligible customers in Singapore, expanding on-chain access beyond trading and custody
Gemini customers based in Singapore can now deposit and withdraw XRP directly through the XRP Ledger network. The feature allows transfers between Gemini accounts and external XRPL addresses, moving beyond the previous limits of buying, selling and storing the token within the platform.
Gemini co-founder and CEO Tyler Winklevoss announced the development, describing it as significant for the XRP community in the region.
Eligible users may send XRP from self-custody wallets or other platforms into Gemini accounts and withdraw tokens from the exchange to compatible XRPL addresses. The XRP Ledger is known for rapid settlement, with transactions typically confirming in three to five seconds and relatively low fees compared with some other networks.
Customers must confirm the correct network, destination address and any required destination tag before initiating transfers. Sending assets via an unsupported network risks permanent loss of funds. Singapore users remain subject to the exchange’s compliance requirements, including Travel Rule obligations and deposit attestations consistent with local regulations.
Gemini did not introduce new XRP trading pairs, revise fee schedules or publish minimum transfer thresholds alongside the update. The company already supports funding of Singapore accounts in Singapore dollars and offers access to more than 70 cryptocurrencies.
Singapore forms one of Gemini’s two primary international markets after the firm consolidated operations around the United States and Singapore earlier in 2026. The company exited the United Kingdom, European Union and Australia as part of that restructuring, which also involved plans to reduce global headcount by as many as 200 positions.
Gemini Digital Payments Singapore holds in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore for a Major Payment Institution license, received in October 2024. Final license approval has not been granted, and the exchange continues working with the regulator.
The addition of native XRPL transfers strengthens on-chain connectivity in a jurisdiction that has also expanded regulated payment activities for other XRP-related entities.
The Singapore XRPL rollout builds on earlier XRP-related features. In July 2026, Gemini added XRP to its derivatives cross-collateral pool, allowing eligible customers to use the token alongside Bitcoin, Ether, Tether and Gemini Dollar to meet margin requirements.
In December 2025, the exchange enabled deposits and withdrawals of Ripple USD, the dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Ripple, over the XRP Ledger. Gemini and Ripple had previously collaborated on an XRP edition of the Gemini Credit Card available to eligible U.S. customers, offering rewards in XRP on certain purchases.
These steps increase the ways Singapore users can interact with XRP and related assets while remaining within Gemini’s regulated environment. No specific user-adoption targets or timelines for similar XRPL support in additional Asian markets were disclosed.
XRP has recently recorded notable weekly price gains and inflows into related exchange-traded products, though no direct causal link to the Singapore transfer feature has been established. Future activity levels on the platform will determine the practical impact of the new deposit and withdrawal options.
