Galaxy Digital has entered a long-term agreement with Texas Tech University to rename its football stadium Galaxy Stadium and serve as the official data center and digital assets partner for athletics programs
Galaxy Digital signed a 15-year partnership with Texas Tech University. The agreement renames Jones AT&T Stadium to Galaxy Stadium, effective for the 2026 football season. The venue will open under the new name on September 5, 2026, when the Red Raiders host Abilene Christian.
The partnership extends beyond signage. Galaxy becomes the official data center and digital assets partner of Texas Tech Athletics. This covers branding across football and men's and women's basketball programs, including in-game features, digital channels, and social media.
Reports place the total value of the agreement above $70 million. This positions the deal among notable collegiate naming rights contracts. Exact terms were not disclosed in the official announcement.
The arrangement connects directly to Galaxy's operations in West Texas. The company runs the Helios data center campus in Dickens County, roughly 60 miles east of Lubbock. The site holds approval for 1.6 gigawatts of capacity focused on artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech’s Director of Athletics, noted the partnership creates additional moments in the new venue, described as one of the premier home-field environments in college football. The Jones family legacy will receive separate recognition.
Andrew Wheeler from Learfield, involved in facilitating the deal, called it a modern partnership that integrates student-athlete storytelling, fan experiences, community, and campus-wide impact.
Texas has grown as a center for digital infrastructure. The state hosts major operators including Riot Platforms, Cipher Mining, Core Scientific, CleanSpark, IREN, and Hut 8. Recent activity includes Canaan’s acquisition of a stake in mining facilities and MARA Holdings’ plans for a large powered site supporting high-performance computing and related operations.
Political and policy developments have supported this direction. Industry groups spent over $10 million in certain congressional primaries, with supported candidates succeeding. State legislation established the Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, with holdings transitioning toward direct custody.
Other companies in crypto and AI infrastructure have pursued sports partnerships. Ripple sponsored the University of Kansas, with XRP appearing on jerseys and support for education programs. IREN signed a major jersey-patch agreement with the Golden State Warriors.
These arrangements allow firms to gain visibility, build talent pipelines, and establish community ties in regions where they operate physical infrastructure.
