Market maker Cumberland has steadily built a large PONS position while LBank introduces a dedicated trading zone for Robinhood Chain assets, including the launchpad token that has posted extreme gains
A wallet linked to Cumberland, the crypto trading division of Chicago-based DRW, purchased an additional 2.7 million PONS tokens on September 11 for approximately $1.55 million. The acquisition raised the wallet’s total holdings to 11.2 million PONS, valued at about $6.76 million at recent prices.
The buying has been consistent rather than opportunistic. Over the preceding week the same address withdrew roughly 8.5 million PONS worth $6.55 million from the Gate exchange. Rival market maker Wintermute has also conducted sizable purchases, with analytics firm Arkham identifying it as a possible market maker for the token.
PONS was trading near $0.58 with a market capitalization of approximately $440 million to $448 million. The token is down 7.5 percent on the day and stands about 35 percent below its recent peak of $0.971. Over the past 30 days it has advanced 1,384 percent.
PONS operates as a token launchpad on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum. Users can mint a tradable token in minutes for a fee of about one dollar. The platform has become a focal point for high-volatility meme-token activity.
On September 2 nearly 25,000 tokens were launched on PONS. Daily trading volume reached $544 million and protocol fees generated in a single 24-hour period totaled $5.95 million, placing the project fourth among all protocols behind only Tether, Uniswap and Circle. Since July approximately 646,000 tokens have been created by more than 167,000 unique addresses.
Fees collected in wrapped ether are used to repurchase and burn PONS. Roughly 293 million tokens, or 29 percent of the original supply, have already been destroyed through this mechanism.
Global exchange LBank has introduced a Robinhood Chain Ecosystem Zone that consolidates emerging assets from the network and offers both spot and futures trading. The zone currently lists 49 assets across categories that include launchpad projects, animal-themed tokens, NFTs, indices and social concepts. Featured tokens include PONS, HOOKR, WALLET, STONKBROKER and TENDIES.
Several assets debuted through LBank Premiere. PONS recorded a peak gain of 30,453 percent while AI1 reached 24,975 percent. The top ten performing assets on the platform averaged peak gains of approximately 6,900 percent. Futures markets linked to the zone support leverage of up to 20 times.
LBank, founded in 2015, reports more than 25 million registered users across 160 countries and regions and a daily trading volume exceeding $23.81 billion. The exchange stated it will continue expanding coverage of emerging ecosystems while strengthening liquidity and trading infrastructure.
PONS revenue depends directly on the volume of new token mints. High returns realized by early participants, including one wallet that turned roughly $220,000 into more than $4.7 million by trading CASHCAT and PONS, have attracted additional attention. At the same time, the broader crypto market recently experienced $562 million in liquidations, an environment in which speculative small-cap tokens often face heightened pressure.
Market participants are watching whether institutional accumulation continues if overall risk appetite declines. Robinhood Chain activity continues to expand beyond pure meme tokens into a wider range of narratives, with LBank positioning its new zone as a centralized access point for those assets.
