The AI company shared strong third-quarter results with prospective investors, citing improved compute efficiency and enterprise demand as it prepares for a potential November listing
Anthropic informed prospective investors on October 14 that its third-quarter 2026 revenue reached $16.8 billion and that the company was profitable on an adjusted basis. The figures were presented during a closed meeting at the firm’s San Francisco headquarters, weeks before a possible initial public offering.
The $16.8 billion quarterly total more than tripled Anthropic’s full-year 2025 revenue of nearly $4.6 billion. Sequential growth also remained rapid: third-quarter sales rose about 45 percent from $11.6 billion in the second quarter and followed $4.7 billion in the first quarter.
Company executives told attendees that Anthropic generated $1.70 in revenue for every dollar spent on computing power in the third quarter. That ratio marked a sharp improvement from 2025, when the firm earned roughly $0.63 for each dollar of compute against about $4.6 billion in annual revenue and $7.33 billion in related spending.
Anthropic also reported positive free cash flow, an adjusted gross margin of 85 percent and an adjusted operating margin above 11 percent for the quarter. Adjusted profitability was achieved for a second consecutive period, according to accounts of the presentation. Net revenue retention stood at 900 percent, indicating strong expansion among existing customers.
About 80 percent of revenue comes from enterprise clients, a higher share than reported for some peers. The company has positioned its Claude models as foundation systems serving a wide range of business tasks.
Anthropic submitted a confidential draft Form S-1 registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on June 1. No share count, offering price or definitive listing date has been set. Formal marketing could begin as early as the week of November 9, with trading possibly starting before the Thanksgiving holiday on November 26, subject to market conditions and other factors.
The company’s most recent announced private valuation was $965 billion following a $65 billion Series H financing completed in May. Prospective valuations discussed around the IPO range from about $1.8 trillion to more than $2 trillion. One early investor who declined to be named estimated an IPO pricing near $1.8 trillion and a subsequent trading value of $2.3 trillion to $2.4 trillion, citing Anthropic’s enterprise focus and relative operational stability.
A pre-IPO contract trading on Hyperliquid under the ticker ANTH closed at $1,936, implying a $1.936 trillion valuation. The contract recorded $23.71 million in 24-hour volume and $39.72 million in open interest. That price reflects secondary-market trading and does not constitute an official company valuation.
In 2025 Anthropic recorded nearly $4.6 billion in revenue alongside an operating loss exceeding $8 billion. A reported net loss of about $42 billion included an accounting charge of roughly $34 billion linked to financing instruments that could convert into shares. Cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments totaled $20.28 billion at year-end 2025.
The confidential filing leaves employee equity values uncertain, as final IPO terms, share counts and any post-listing sale restrictions remain undetermined. Anthropic has not confirmed specific fundraising targets or a precise valuation for the offering.
Executives noted that margins could change as compute spending increases. The company continues to face competition from other foundation-model developers while maintaining substantial long-term infrastructure commitments across multiple cloud and hardware providers.
