Crypto travel platform Travala and the AVA Foundation launch a matching buyback program that permanently locks tokens in a multi-signature reserve, starting with an inaugural purchase of over 739,000 AVA
Travala, a crypto-native travel booking platform, and the AVA Foundation have introduced a new matching structure for the AVA token that doubles monthly open-market buyback volume. Under the arrangement, Travala will independently purchase an amount of AVA equal to the AVA Foundation’s existing rewards-replenishment buybacks each month and transfer those tokens into a dedicated strategic reserve.
Travala has committed that AVA held in the reserve will never be sold or transferred. The reserve wallet uses multi-signature custody and is publicly verifiable on-chain.
Each month the AVA Foundation repurchases on the open market the exact quantity of AVA distributed as givebacks to AVA Smart Program members in the prior month. Those tokens return to the Ecosystem Incentives Wallet that supports the rewards model. Historical buybacks for this purpose total 4,824,722 AVA.
Travala now matches that volume independently. The company buys an identical quantity of AVA on the open market and moves it into the new Travala AVA Strategic Reserve Wallet. The two programs together therefore repurchase twice the volume of AVA Smart member givebacks, compared with the previous one-times multiple.
The Foundation’s portion continues to replenish the rewards pool. Travala’s matched portion is permanently removed from circulating supply under the company’s commitment never to sell or transfer the tokens.
The first Travala monthly buyback has already taken place. The AVA Foundation repurchased 369,881.04 AVA in September to cover August AVA Smart member givebacks. Travala matched that figure with its own open-market purchase of 369,881.04 AVA. Combined, the two transactions removed 739,762.08 AVA from the open market. Travala’s share was transferred to the strategic reserve wallet at address 0x7bed1889c21d9eb3560463c14cd74fe29f2d03b6.
Tokens moved into the strategic reserve are excluded from AVA’s official circulating supply through the circulating-supply API. Travala intends to submit the reserve wallet address to CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko so the holdings can be classified as non-circulating under those platforms’ methodologies.
Both the Foundation and Travala buybacks are separately verifiable on-chain. The two organizations will publish the monthly figures going forward. Travala executes its purchase only after the Foundation has published the prior month’s giveback total.
The scale of the program is tied directly to platform activity. Larger AVA Smart member givebacks produce larger Foundation buybacks and, through the matching structure, larger Travala purchases that add to the permanent reserve.
The announcement comes after AVA’s listing on Bithumb’s KRW market, which expands access for Korean traders. Travala was also recently featured by Amazon Web Services as a customer case study for the general availability of its Bedrock AgentCore payments platform. The integration supports conversational booking across Travala’s inventory of more than 2.2 million hotels.
Travala, founded in 2017 and backed by Binance, operates a crypto-native travel service covering more than 2.2 million properties in 230 countries, over 600 airlines, 50,000 car-rental locations and 400,000 activities. The platform accepts more than 100 cryptocurrencies alongside traditional payments and offers loyalty rewards through the AVA Smart Program.
The AVA Foundation oversees the AVA token ecosystem, including the AVA Smart Program, the AVA token and Travel Tiger NFTs. AVA provides access to payment discounts, loyalty rewards and other benefits for Travala customers.
