AI Agents Bring Automated Trading to the Robinhood App

Robinhood introduced Robinhood Agents, an in-app feature that lets users create artificial intelligence tools to research markets, build strategies and execute trades across stocks, options and crypto. Customers select a model from OpenAI or Anthropic, name the agent and open a dedicated account funded only with money they deposit. Trade approvals start as on by default, though users can turn them off.

Over 150,000 agentic accounts have opened since Robinhood first tested third-party AI connections in May 2026. Agents now interact with the platform nearly 30 million times daily. A coming feature called Loops will allow agents to run standing instructions, such as checking markets overnight and trading only when preset conditions are met.

"With safety and security at its core, we’re setting the standard for what agentic finance can be," said Abhishek Fatehpuria, Robinhood’s vice president of product management.

The agents can only access funds in their own account and cannot borrow on margin at launch. Robinhood officials stressed that users retain full responsibility for any losses and must maintain oversight. Models such as OpenAI’s GPT-6 Luna will be free to use through the end of the year.

Crypto Perpetual Futures Reach Eligible U.S. Customers

Robinhood began rolling out perpetual futures contracts for eligible U.S. users through its Robinhood Derivatives platform and Bitstamp. The initial offering covers Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink and Hyperliquid, with Bitcoin and Ethereum supporting up to 10x leverage and the remaining assets capped at 3x.

Fees stand at 0.01 percent through the end of 2026. Users can set stop-loss and take-profit orders, view real-time liquidation prices and receive alerts. Perpetual contracts have no expiration date and settle profit and loss every 15 minutes.

CEO Vlad Tenev described the product as “America’s first true perps.” The company chose lower leverage for smaller coins to start more conservatively, noting that “we wanted to start off a little safer with especially the long-tail coins.”

Weekend Trading Extends Equities Access

Robinhood plans to launch weekend trading for a curated list of U.S. stocks and ETFs, pending regulatory review. The service will operate through Bruce ATS and extend the existing 24 Hour Market that already runs Sunday evening through Friday evening. The new weekend sessions would close the remaining gap in traditional equity trading hours.

Chief Brokerage Officer Steve Quirk said, “Breaking news doesn’t wait for an opening bell.” Bruce Markets CEO Jason Wallach added that the infrastructure would give traders the freedom to trade when they want. The move aligns Robinhood with crypto markets that never close and places traditional stocks on a more continuous schedule.

Broader Product Push Targets Active Traders

Robinhood also announced earnings contracts tied to corporate key performance indicators and extended options trading hours. The announcements occurred at the HOOD Summit in Houston on September 29, 2026. The company reported that the stock rose 2.57 percent to $119.21 in overnight trading after closing at $116.22 the previous day.

Robinhood’s product management team framed the combined features as an effort to make the app the best venue for active traders by delivering institutional-grade tools directly to retail users. All new products remain in rollout stages for eligible customers only.
