Morgan Stanley’s MSBT spot Bitcoin ETF holds 10,519 BTC valued at $903.86 million, closing in on a $1 billion threshold after steady accumulation since its April launch
Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund has accumulated 10,519 Bitcoin, bringing its holdings to approximately $903.86 million according to on-chain data. The position leaves the fund less than $100 million short of the $1 billion level.
Blockchain analytics firm Arkham identified the wallets associated with the fund, known by the ticker MSBT, shortly after its market debut. The latest figures reflect continued purchases that have expanded the fund’s Bitcoin reserves across those linked addresses.
MSBT began trading on NYSE Arca in early April. Shares started trading the day after the trust commenced operations. In the roughly five months since launch, the fund has built a position approaching the $1 billion mark through consistent Bitcoin acquisitions.
Earlier regulatory disclosures provide a point of comparison. A June 30 filing showed the trust held 5,059.30771216 Bitcoin valued at $299,012,624 at that time. Subsequent on-chain estimates indicate further growth, with the current balance of 10,519 Bitcoin representing an increase of several thousand coins from the mid-year snapshot.
The dollar value of holdings fluctuates with Bitcoin’s market price. The October estimate of $903.86 million has not yet appeared in a formal regulatory filing, and the two data points do not by themselves establish a continuous day-by-day trend.
Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust is the firm’s first crypto exchange-traded product offered through Morgan Stanley Investment Management. It is designed to track the performance of Bitcoin after accounting for expenses and liabilities.
The trust charges a 0.14 percent sponsor fee. Bitcoin held by the fund is custodied with Coinbase Custody Trust Company and BNY. These arrangements place the digital assets under established institutional custody providers while allowing investors to gain price exposure without directly holding Bitcoin.
The accumulation has continued amid periods of price volatility in the broader cryptocurrency market. Market participants tracking the Arkham data have noted regular additions to the fund’s wallets since the addresses were publicly linked to MSBT.
Reaching nearly $1 billion in Bitcoin holdings within five months of launch places MSBT among the more rapid accumulators in the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF category. Industry commentary has pointed to the possibility that the fund could cross the $1 billion line before the end of October if the recent pace of purchases is maintained.
Morgan Stanley operates as a global investment bank active in equities, fixed income, and asset management. Its entry into the spot Bitcoin ETF market through MSBT expands the range of regulated products available to institutional and retail investors seeking Bitcoin exposure through traditional brokerage channels.

On-chain transparency provided by wallet tracking has allowed external monitoring of the fund’s reserves from an early stage. Arkham’s identification of the relevant addresses within one week of launch has enabled ongoing observation of changes in the ETF’s Bitcoin balance.
The fund’s progress toward the $1 billion level occurs against a backdrop of broader institutional participation in regulated Bitcoin investment products. MSBT’s growth trajectory supplies one data point on the scale of capital allocation by traditional financial firms into spot Bitcoin vehicles.
