Nasdaq-listed firm partners with TSV and Fairmint to offer 24/7 trading and instant settlement of its common stock under the SEC innovation exemption
Canton Strategic Holdings, the Nasdaq-listed company trading under the ticker CNTN, announced plans to tokenize its outstanding common shares for trading on the Canton Network. Trading of the tokenized shares is expected to begin as early as November 2, 2026, through a partnership with TSV LLC and SEC-registered transfer agent Fairmint.
The company, formerly known as biotechnology firm Tharimmune, stated that the tokenized shares will carry the same shareholder rights and privileges as its existing Nasdaq-listed stock. Fairmint, through its registered subsidiary Fairmint TA LLC, will issue the tokens, maintain the official ownership records, and ensure transfers meet regulatory requirements.
The arrangement follows an issuer-sponsored model. This approach allows TSV to proceed without the 30-day issuer notice-and-objection period that applies to third-party tokenization efforts. TSV published its initial venue notice on September 23, 2026, and the waiting period has already elapsed.
Trading will occur through an automated market maker on the Canton Network using the Tradecraft protocol. Participants, both institutional and retail, must receive prior approval that includes identity verification and sanctions screening. Smart contracts enforce these controls on transfers. The venue is designed for continuous availability, subject to necessary stoppages, maintenance, risk controls, and volume limits.
Settlement will be atomic and immediate. The stock token and payment transfer simultaneously, or neither side completes, creating a delivery-versus-payment structure on the Canton Network. This contrasts with the traditional two-business-day settlement cycle for Nasdaq-listed shares.
| Aspect | Traditional CNTN Shares | Tokenized CNTN Shares |
|---|---|---|
| Trading venue | Nasdaq | Canton Network via TSV |
| Trading hours | Standard market hours | 24/7 (subject to controls) |
| Settlement | T+2 | Immediate / atomic |
| Shareholder rights | Full | Identical |
The initiative follows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s September innovation exemption. The companies involved described the exemption as creating a regulatory pathway for trading tokenized U.S. equities on domestic platforms that use permissioned automated market maker pools.
TSV’s earlier notice positions it ahead of a competing platform involving OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, whose venue notice was filed on October 4, 2026. Both platforms plan to operate under the same five-year innovation exemption framework. Canton Strategic Holdings characterized its planned launch as intended to be among the first under the new rules.
Canton Strategic Holdings shifted its business focus toward digital assets in November 2025 after raising $545 million to develop infrastructure related to Canton Coin. The firm rebranded in February and now holds cryptocurrencies, supports Canton Network operations, and invests in blockchain-based projects.
The company is not the developer of the Canton Network. That network was built by Digital Asset. Canton Strategic Holdings maintains connections to the Canton Foundation through strategic investments and participation in network governance.
At the time of the announcement, CNTN shares showed an average daily trading volume of 757,704, a recent price near $2.13, and a market capitalization of approximately $170 million. The stock rose more than 4.5 percent in the latest session referenced in the reports.
Trading of the tokenized shares has not yet commenced. The November 2 date represents the earliest planned start under the current schedule.
