SpaceX conducted a small Bitcoin transfer between its own tagged wallets, drawing attention from market participants. The move involved minimal amounts and appears tied to routine operations rather than any broader shift in holdings
A Bitcoin wallet linked to SpaceX executed its first activity in approximately six months. According to Arkham Intelligence, the wallet labeled "SpaceX 15atF" sent around $88 worth of Bitcoin to another address also associated with the company, starting with "bc1q9". Additional small transfers occurred, with the total under $300.
Arkham Intelligence noted the activity on social media, stating: "A tagged SpaceX address just moved Bitcoin for the first time in 6 months. SpaceX (15atF) made a test transaction of $88 of BTC to SpaceX (bc1q9)."
SpaceX maintains 18,712 Bitcoin, valued at roughly $1.16 billion to $1.2 billion depending on current prices. This figure comes from the company's May S-1 filing ahead of its June IPO. On-chain estimates prior to the filing had identified only about 8,285 BTC linked to the firm, meaning a substantial portion was not previously visible on public trackers.
The recent transfers stayed entirely within SpaceX-associated addresses. No funds reached exchange deposit addresses, consistent with internal wallet management practices such as testing new addresses or verifying custody setups.
This marks the first notable movement since larger internal shifts in late 2025. In October 2025, SpaceX moved 2,495 BTC worth about $257 million into new wallets. Earlier that year, around $300 million went to Coinbase Prime custody. Those actions followed a pattern of consolidation without external sales.
During the 2022 market period, SpaceX had conducted sales from its positions. In contrast, recent years show more focus on storage and internal adjustments. Tesla, another Musk-led company, has kept its Bitcoin holdings steady since 2024.
The wallet activity coincides with SpaceX's recent addition to the Nasdaq-100 index following its IPO. Bitcoin currently trades near $62,000, below previous highs. These factors contributed to quick speculation in cryptocurrency circles about potential future moves.
Analysts across platforms view the small scale and internal nature as standard procedures for large holders. Such tests often precede bigger internal reorganizations to ensure addresses function correctly before any significant use.
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Current Holdings | 18,712 BTC (~$1.16B) |
| Recent Transfer | ~$88 between company wallets |
| Prior Major Move | 2,495 BTC in Oct 2025 |

BitcoinTreasuries data confirms the holdings remain unchanged at the reported level. Any substantial change would require visible on-chain evidence, such as transfers to external platforms.
Large organizations frequently move funds between controlled addresses for security reviews, operational testing, or fee management. In SpaceX's case, the involvement of Coinbase Prime in minor top-ups aligns with covering network fees ahead of potential activity.
The company's concentrated ownership structure, with Elon Musk retaining a majority stake exceeding 85%, means decisions on the Bitcoin treasury rest primarily with him. Past patterns show preference for long-term holding with occasional internal restructuring.
Market participants continue monitoring the newly active addresses for any follow-up transactions that might indicate further changes in approach. For now, available data points to routine activity rather than shifts in overall strategy.
