After weeks of outflows totaling billions, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded positive net inflows on June 12, signaling potential recovery amid shifting institutional sentiment
U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds concluded their fifth straight week of net outflows but showed clear signs of stabilization. The week ending June 12 saw approximately $316 million in total net withdrawals, a marked improvement compared to the previous week's heavier losses exceeding $1.7 billion.
Data indicates that four of the five trading days posted outflows, but Friday reversed the trend with roughly $86 million in net inflows. This marked the first positive session after a prolonged period of selling pressure, during which the funds had shed over $5.7 billion since mid-May. Cumulative net inflows across all Bitcoin ETFs now stand at approximately $53.6 billion.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the inflows with approximately $57.7 million on Friday, reinforcing its position as the dominant player in the space. The fund has now accumulated more than $62 billion in total net inflows since launch.
Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) followed with around $18 million in new capital, pushing its cumulative inflows above $10.4 billion. The broad participation, with every fund ending the day in positive territory, highlights renewed institutional confidence.
The positive flows come after a challenging 13-session outflow streak earlier in June that saw more than $4.4 billion exit the products. Total Bitcoin ETF assets represent about 6.3% of Bitcoin's overall market capitalization, underscoring the growing institutional footprint in cryptocurrency markets.
In contrast to Bitcoin products, spot Ethereum ETFs extended their own five-week streak of net outflows. The most recent week recorded a more modest $15 million in withdrawals, compared to $173 million the week prior. Cumulative inflows for Ethereum funds have declined to under $11.2 billion.
Monday saw inflows of over $82 million into Ethereum ETFs, but subsequent days turned negative, reflecting ongoing caution among investors toward Ether exposure.
The divergence between Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF performance points to selective institutional appetite. While Bitcoin benefits from its status as the flagship asset, other segments like XRP ETFs continue to show steady growth, adding around $2 million on the same day.
Analysts note that recent Bitcoin ETF inflows may indicate institutional investors rebuilding positions following market uncertainty. BlackRock's consistent leadership in flows serves as a key barometer for broader sentiment toward regulated digital asset products.
