The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC),a major player in post-trade securities processing, announced plans to connect its tokenized securities platform to the Stellar blockchain. This integration targets DTC-custodied assets, including equities from the Russell 1000 index and US Treasuries, with rollout expected in the first half of 2027.
DTCC handled approximately $4.7 quadrillion in securities transactions last year, making this partnership a significant step toward bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology. The initiative forms part of DTCC's multi-chain strategy aimed at improving interoperability between conventional financial systems and distributed ledger networks.
Stellar's native token XLM responded positively to the news, climbing more than 8% in a single session and reaching above $0.16. Weekly gains exceeded 13% amid renewed interest in projects with clear institutional pathways. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson entered the conversation to counter criticism directed at Stellar's architecture following the DTCC announcement.
